The government reported that 316 complaints of corruption were registered in 2018. Over the past 5 years, a total of 2,157 complaints had been filed, with the highest being 547 in 2017. 33,645 alleged corruption complaints were made and 250 out of the 316 that were registered last year were disposed of. Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said: “Recognising the importance of complaints, as they constitute an important source of information leading to the exposure of misconduct and malpractices, various platforms have been developed for registration of complaints, including the corruption related complaints.”

Complaints can be filed in writing through post or online. In order to make the process of reporting grievances (including those related to corruption) easier, the Centralized Public Grievance Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) i.e., pgportal.gov.in. was developed. There is also a portal provided by the Central Vigilance Commission (portal.cvc.gov.in) and a toll-free phone number 1800110180 for the purpose.
