It was the end of an era after 15 enviable years for Daniel Craig, as he said goodbye to the most desired of roles any actor could ask for. He had endowed James Bond with an insouciance and sophistication no other actor has managed since Connery, but apparently another actor is already reportedly said to have been offered the part.

The Sun also confirmed a report in The New York Times that said British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who starred in "Kick-Ass," "Tenet," and the "Avengers" franchise, would take over the role. "Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it," said an insider. "The formal offer is on the table, and they are waiting to hear back."

With EON Productions behind the hit spy franchise, the powerhouse is now doing everything in their power to get Taylor-Johnson up and about on the Bond journey without much ado, confirmed a source. "As far as EON is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days, and preparations for the big announcement can be made.

Taylor-Johnson's acting performance—most recently in "Nocturnal Animals"—wowed insiders, leading to the decision. Earlier, the moment the development took place, Taylor-Johnson was the first one to be credited for even being considered for the role and pointed out that it was 'the' most important compliment.

That is while Taylor-Johnson is topping the pile when he still has fierce competition from the likes of Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and recent Oscar winner Cillian Murphy. While, of course, such casting decisions always divide, the majority right now has taken to Twitter to announce their excitement and hope for what Taylor-Johnson can bring to the iconic role.

Within that noise, everyone now awaited Taylor-Johnson with 007 eyes for the next installment in the iconic franchise.
