A video depicting Nana Patekar striking a fan who was taking a selfie with him on set has sparked controversy. However, in a response video shared by ANI, Patekar clarifies that the incident was part of a scene from his upcoming film. Speaking in Hindi, he explained, "The scene involves a boy asking if I want to sell my hat, to which I respond by scolding and chasing him away. It was part of our film. We had one rehearsal, and when I thought the boy was a crew member, I enacted the scene. Later, I realized he wasn't part of the crew."

Patekar expressed regret, stating, "I mistook him for a crew member and mistakenly slapped him. I never refuse anyone for photos; it was a misunderstanding." He also expressed a desire to apologize to the boy, but the boy fled in fear, making it challenging to locate him.

Director Anil Sharma also clarified, "It's a scene from our film 'Journey,' where Patekar's character has dementia. The incident occurred during the shoot in Varanasi. Someone captured the scene out of context."

Sharma emphasized that Patekar did not physically harm anyone and explained the context behind the shot. Nana Patekar will continue shooting for "Journey" in Varanasi for the next two weeks. The film also features Utkarsh Sharma, known for "Gadar 2."
