Telugu filmmakers have proved themselves to be thoroughly imaginative when it comes to horror-comedies. Prema Katha Chitram, Geethanjali and Raju Gaari Gadhi stand out as the best examples. Of course, the record of Kollywood is inspiring too. Aranmanai (Kalavathi) is a case in point.

But looks like Kollywood is more in need of borrowed horror-comedies than is Tollywood. Thus, Geethanjali, the 2014 horror-comedy, is all set to be remade into Tamil. This Anjali and Srinivas Reddy-starrer film was directed by Raj Kiran. Written and produced by Kona Venkat, the film went on to be a decent BO farer. Made on a shoestring budget, the film had reportedly been sought after by more than a few producers in Tamil.

The remake rights have finally been lapped up by Five Star Kathiresan of Polladhavan and Jigarthanda fame. The film will be directed by Prasad of Hello Naan Pey Pesuren fame. While Srinivas Reddy's role will be reprised by GV Prakash Kumar, it's not yet known as to who will play Anjali's character. There are speculations that Anjali herself might be roped in, but at this point of time, nothing is finalized. Looks like the makers are planning to remake the film on a bigger scale. In that case, they may rope in a star heroine.
