Ayushmann Khurrana shares his two cents on the ongoing language debate

Just like several other stars in recent days, actor Ayushmann Khurrana has also shared his take on the ongoing Hindi vs Southern languages debate which doesn't seem to end anytime soon. The trailer of Ayushmann's latest film 'Anek' also had a scene which sort of gave momentum to this already intense debate about linguistic and cultural diversity of our country.

Talking about the same, Ayushmann recently told India Today, "I think it’s just landed this place because we shot the film a year back and it’s just became topical because we have this large scene in the film which just talks about the language and the demography and different people, different kinds dwelling in one nation called India."

The actor then went on talk about the importance and uniqueness of India's diversity. He stated, "Every language is important, every person is important and we just don’t talk in one language in a country. Even in Indian cinema or generally in life we at least mix three languages. Like in the film, if I am shooting in UP, for example, I will be mixing Hindi, Urdu and Brajbhasha or khadibol. In Bombay they mix Hindi, Urdu and Marathi or Gujarati. So I guess we don’t speak language in its pure form. We have this mish-mash of three languages going on with every person."

Ayushmann concluded by saying, "So how do you expect to just give importance to one single language? This is not a country that can be run by having just one language."
