The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, went into home quarantine after his elder brother and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint secretary Snehasish Ganguly tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Snehasish has been admitted to the Belle Vue hospital in West Bengal's Kolkata a few days ago, after he showed symptoms of Covid-19. People associated with him, including Sourav Ganguly, have isolated themselves after Snehasish's test result came back positive. "He was suffering from fever for the last few days and his test report came positive today. He's been admitted to Belle Vue Hospital," a CAB official reportedly said. A source close to Sourav Ganguly added, "The reports arrived late in the evening. As per health protocols, even Sourav will have to be in home quarantine for a stipulated period." Speculations were doing the rounds over a month ago that Snehasish had been diagnosed with the viral infection. However, he refuted the rumours back then. "I am perfectly healthy and am doing office every day. The news doing rounds about my illness is baseless and is not expected in these trying times. Hope that after this, it will firmly put a lid on such untrue sensational news that are doing rounds," Snehasish had mentioned in a statement released through the CAB on June 20.

The BCCI president has not spoken anything regarding the matter, but he had mentioned earlier that was at a risk of contracting the virus. "My brother visits our factories everyday and he is more at risk," Sourav Ganguly had stated.
