Being a mom doesn’t mean you stop being you. - Malaika Arora

On the ocassion of Mothers Day yesterday, several Bollywood stars took to their social media to express their love and respect for their mothers. Some actresses also took this as the opportunity to talk about the significance of motherhood in their lives. However, it was Malaika Arora's post which stood apart from the rest.

The actress shared a video on Instagram which showcased her journey of motherhood with son Arhaan. Along with it, she penned down a long heartfelt note in which she urged woman to prioritise themselves instead of devoting all their dreams and identity for being a mother.

A part of her note read, "When Arhaan was born, I promised to give him the world. I also promised myself—I won’t lose my identity in the process of being a mom. Ever since, I’ve lived up to both the promises. 2 months after delivery, I performed at an award show. I was proud of myself because I also made it back home in time to tuck Arhaan in bed. Knowing that I could juggle motherhood & work empowered me. In fact, I said yes to Karan for Kaal Dhamaal a year after delivery!"

Malaika then went on to explain how she managed to strike a balance between her career and her role as a mother. She concluded her note by saying, "I kept my 2nd promise—to not lose my identity in the process of being a mom. I’ve my work, my friends & my life. So, live your dream—go after that job, leave if you’re in an unhappy marriage, & prioritise yourself. Being a mom doesn’t mean you stop being you. Motherhood is not the end. Treat it as a comma, but never as a full stop!” #NoOneLikeMom".
