A film that has Suresh Gopi as a police officer is like a James Hadley Chase novel. Full of action and plenty of typical fun. It can be predictable but you will never feel hackneyed. And to help,Suresh Gopi is always fire and brimstone while taking up contemporary themes. Bharathchandran IPS is a good case in point.

It is all typical stuff from the big burly actor and he enjoys his role and in the process also make you enjoy too.

The story is interesting as it is rooted in contemporary and contextual politics --- it is about communal and commercial politics.

Hyder Ali Hassan (Sai Kumar) is a scheming ,slimy politician who is hand-in-cahoots with the underworld and also has lot of business ambitions. He is using another slimy politico (of the Hindu variety), bumps off Mayambaram Baba (Sri Raman), a do-gooder Muslim leader. This leads to riots and arson.

Enter Balachandran IPS (Suresh Gopi) to solve the case, control the situation and bring the culprits to book.

It is high-voltage performance by Suresh Gopi. His dialogue delivery, his confident mannerisms all show that he is back to his vintage best. Shriya, as his fawning junior, has nothing much to do.Sai Kumar as the greasy politico is believable and bankable. Also in the cast are Rajan P Dev, Madhu Warrier.

Am action film has very little scope for music.

Director Renji has chosen a workable plot and handles his job with little fuss. In the event, what you get is an entertaining three hours of mainstream masala movie.
