Balram Thawani, a BJP MLA from Gujarat, is in the news for a deplorable reason. On Sunday, he was caught literally kicking a woman activist belonging to NCP for demanding the restoration of water connection. After the video went viral on social media, the legislator was in a soup. Criticisms started pouring in and the MLA had no defence left.

On Monday, Thawani has issued an apology. "I got swayed by emotions. I accept the mistake and it was not intentional. I have been in politics for the last 22 years. Such a thing has never happened before. I will say sorry to the victim," he said.

What the saffron politician has done is an offence under the IPC. It seems he can't get away by apologizing to the victim.
