Veteran Hollywood actor Sidney Poitier passed away on Thursday at the age of 94. A widely popular and gifted star of his time, Sidney was also the first person of colour to win a Best Actor Oscar. He went on inspire generations of actors and some of his admirers includ Bollywood stars as well.

Actor Anil Kapoor was quite shocked by Sidney's demise. He shared a picture of himself with the late actor on Twitter and wrote, "Sidney Poitier, my childhood idol, lifelong inspiration & star of some of my favourite films... Forever your fan & admirer… Rest In Peace.”

Anupam Kher also shared a picture from his meet-up with Sidney and wrote, “I had the honour of meeting the legendary actor #SidneyPoitier in early 2013. He was gentle, compassionate and generous with his time for me. We talked about about Indian cinema. He was especially happy to know that I had an acting school. I was over the moon when he said that he would like to visit it one day. He was a fantastic actor, a remarkable person and had a great aura around him!
