Bring research works from the labs to the open, PM urges scientists

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged scientists to bring out their research works out in the open from laboratories.

The Prime Minister was in his elements as he delivered the inaugural address at the 105th Indian Science Congress held in Manipur’s capital Imphal. “In today’s oft-changing scenario, it is imperative for us to make special efforts to retrieve India’s position as the prominent scieitnfic nation which discovers lots of inventions for the world’s overall betterment.

“It’s time for our scientists to bring out (results of) research work out in the open. Science and technology have taken the dominant position in sectors such as education, healthcare and banking. In this backdrop, it has become essential for us to take advantage of our scientific progress and inventions. Knowledge of science and its essentiality in today’s context should be instilled in students’ minds quite early.

“Scientists should continue to talk to students in this regard.  I appeal personally to each scientist to commit himself to spending 100 hours each year with students from Class IX to XII so as to finetune the students’ scientific knowledge. We have set a target of producing 100 GW solar power by 2022 and scientists should play the lead role in helping us achieve this target with ease,” the Prime Minister concluded.
