Composing for Mercury was a learning in itself: Santosh Narayanan

As far as Prabhu Deva's upcoming silent thriller 'Mercury' is concerned, music is its very voice.  Santosh Narayanan, whom we know as the music director of 'Kabali', says that the music in 'Mercury' is the language personifying the characters and the screenplay.

He says, "Music is the most essential part of any film, but when it comes to 'Mercury', it actually became a medium of communication. It being a silent film, 'Mercury' needed a strong background score that can give you chills down the spine."

Elaborating, he further says, "Since there are no dialogues in the film I had to be careful about every minute detail like tonality, atmosphere and the story. I wanted to justify the story with my music. It was a great learning experience as Karthik and I used to have detailed conversations about it. A movie like 'Mercury' is a once in a generation opportunity for me."

Prabhu Deva is ostensibly seen in an unconventional role in the film.  Also featuring Sananth Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Indhuja, Shashank Purushotam, Anish Padman and Remya Nambesan, it's directed by Karthick Subbaraj.  The cinematography is by Thiru.  Editing is by Vivek Harshan.  Anbariv is the stunt director.

It releases on April 13.
