Title 'Hero' has put the films of Vijay Deverakonda's 'Hero' and Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan's 'Hero' in a spot.  Mythri Movie Makers has this morning announced a multi-lingual flick with Deverakonda.  Soon after the banner declared that the film's title will be 'Hero' in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, KJR Studios (of Kollywood) announced that the title of Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil movie too will be 'Hero'.  This has sparked a controversy.  

Anand Annamalai, the director of Deverakonda's movie, has claimed that the title was registered first by him with Tamil Film Producers' Council.  The director is not ready to give up the title at any cost because it's the most appropriate for his script.  "Also, my film is a multi-lingual one.  How can I have different titles for each language?" Anand asks.  

Kotapadi Rajesh, the producer of Sivakarthikeyan's film, too, is particular about retaining the title 'Hero'.  He claims to possess all the right documents to support his claim to the title.  

Curiously, the makers of both the films have the right documents (apparently).  So, there seems to have been some sort of miscommunication at TFPC.  

'Hero' has been the title of at least four films in both Telugu and Tamil put together.  Mythri Movie Makers doesn't have an issue in Telugu because it has been more than five years since the last film with the title was released (so, the banner doesn't need No-Objection Certificate to use the title).  Chiranjeevi's film with Geetha Arts, a Sunil Kumar Reddy movie and a Nithin Siddhartha movie have used the title before.  'Hero' is an evergreen title and is a universal one.
