COVID 19 - No relief for TN and Chennai as highest number of new cases reported today

There seems to be no relief for Tamil Nadu and Chennai as the official updates for COVID 19 has come with yet another highest single-day spike reported with 1982 new cases our of which 1479 are from Chennai. The state now has 40,698 people affected by the deadly virus with the capital accounting for 28,924. The death toll has increased to 367 after 18 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours. This is the tenth consecutive day that more than 1000 cases have been recorded in Chennai with 294 people succumbing to the deadly virus so far in the city.

On the positive side 1342 patients were discharged today taking the tally of the number of recoveries to 22,047. Tiruppur and The Nilgiris are among the few districts that are maintaining zero number of coronavirus patients for the past month or so.

16,889 persons were tested today out of 6,42,201 individuals tested so far. 18,231 samples were tested today and 552 of those are under process. 2097 children under the age of 12 have been infected so far.
