The official coronavirus updates today show a marked decrease in number of cases today coming below the four thousand mark after successive four days in excess. 3827 persons tested positive for the deadly virus today out of whom 1747 are in Chennai. There are now 1,14,978 patients in the state and 70,017 in the capital city. The death toll has increased to 1571 after 61 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours.
33,518 persons were tested today and a pretty high number of 3793 patients were discharged taking up the tally of recoveries to 66,571. Madurai records 245 cases today and is a distant second to Chennai in the number of infections.
