On Wednesday, a liquor ban law was passed with 100% majority in the Bihar Assembly. The CM of the state said that 1.74 crore people abandoned the habit of alcohol consumption in Bihar in the last few years.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar also took his ire on drunkards. As per the JDU chief, those who drink alcohol are sinners. "I don't consider them Indians," NiKu said.

The comments came in the wake of the rise of hooch tragedies in Bihar, where prohibition has been in place. Hooch is an alcoholic drink of inferior quality. NiKu suggested that those who consume alcohol knowing full well about its consequences deserve no sympathy.

As per a report by NDTV, hooch tragedies in Bihar claimed more than 60 lives in the last six months of 2021.

NiKu invoked Mahatma Gandhi's name as well during an address to the Assembly.
