It's known that TikTok was recently sought to be banned by the Madras High Court. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court refused to stay the ban. After this, the Centre asked Google and Apple to remove the app from their app stores.

The news is that the ban has come into effect. Users are reporting that TikTok is no longer available on Play Store of Google and on App Store of Apple.

The app has been accused of hosting pornographic and sleazy content. Like all social media apps, this one too has been misused by criminals. On its part, TikTok has said that it's not liable to be punished for what "third parties" do.

Meanwhile, social media is awash with memes and funny messages. As @snehils1994 puts it, "It's a day of National Mourning. Thousands of 'models' and 'talented' performers lost the platform which raised them to stardom. My condolences."

Many memes have said that PUBG might be the next target.
