Indian Gymnastics Champion Dipa Karmakar turns Barbie!

Dipa Karmakar, India's first female gymnast to qualify for the final of the vault event in Olympics has been honoured by the popular Barbie brand of toys, on eve of International Women's day, with a barbie doll resembling her for their Role Model Campaign.

The Barbie doll resembles her looks, and is seen clad in a red full sleeve singlet, and wearing a bronze medal. Dipa Karmakar was a bronze medal winner in 2014 Commonweath games and Asian Gymnastics Championships, and the 25 year old has so far won 77 medals including 67 gold medals.

Dipa Karmakar had been chosen along with 19 women from 17 nations for the Barbie Role Model collection which has been designed by the global brand for inspiring young girls. The company's statement praised her for being one of the only 5 women to have landed the Produnova, and for inspiring girls to take up gymnastics.
