Swami Sandeepananda Giri's ashram in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram was on Saturday morning attacked by unidentified assailants.  As reported by ANI, two cars and a two-wheeler belonging to the ashram were set ablaze.

The spiritual guru had supported the entry of women in the Sabarimala temple.  It's alleged by BJP's political opponents that Sangh Parivar activists have attacked his ashram because they don't like the Swami's stance on Sabarimala.

undefined"We suspect Hindutva ideology extremists are behind the attack. Swami Sandeepananda Giri has said that women can enter Sabarimala and that if we want to keep old customs, we can't go forward as a human society because several customs discriminate between men and women," Minister KK Shailaja stated.

undefinedFor its part, the Hindutva outfits have demanded an independent probe into the attack. There is a concerted effort in Kerala to muzzle the Save Sabarimala movement.  Over 2000 people have been arrested so far.
