How many terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed were eliminated by the Indian Air Force strikes on Balakot on February 26? As per a national TV channel, about 263 were snuffed out in the airstrike.

Among these many dead, at least 18 were senior commanders who had participated in the US-Afghan war many years ago. About 83 were there for beginners' training. The terrorists, commanders and trainee jihadis had shifted to the Balakot camp just five days before the IAF airstrike.

How was the number arrived at? As per the report, NTRO was tracking the mobile phone signals of these terrorists. Signals of about 263 phones were being tracked. Ever since February 26, these signals have disappeared. This makes the TV channel conclude that they were all eliminated.

Another TV channel has spoken to locals, who said that at least four Pakistan Army men were present in the camp on that day. They too are deemed to have been killed.
