India's men's hockey team today created history by winning an Olympic Medal after 41 years. Described as a golden moment for Indian Hockey and Indian Sports, India defeated Germany to win Hockey Men's Olympic Bronze medal in style at the Tokyo Olympics. India's men’s hockey team came back 3-3 in the first half against Germany and took the lead in the final 30 minutes to win the match 5-4.

India is witnessing an outpouring of joy. Social media posts are full of praises for the champions.

Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Historic! A day that will be etched in the memory of every Indian. Congratulations to our Men’s Hockey Team for bringing home the Bronze. With this feat, they have captured the imagination of the entire nation, especially our youth. India is proud of our Hockey team."

Credit is due for Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha. The Odisha government has been the sponsor of both the Indian men's and women's hockey teams for the past few years. It has spent something like Rs 150 Cr. "Brilliant in Blue. Congratulations Indian Men’s Hockey Team on the spectacular victory to give us an Olympic medal after 41 long years. This historic win at #Tokyo2020 will inspire a generation of sportspersons. All the very best for the future," he wrote.
