Despite several people across the nation working from home amid the coronavirus pandemic, several IT and ITeS companies continued to operate from their offices over the last few weeks. Panic has now risen in Pune as an Infosys employee tested positive for the virus, leading the company to vacate two of its buildings where employees worked.

Infosys mentioned in a statement, "We can confirm that an Infosys employee in Pune has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is under medical supervision and we have asked colleagues who were in contact with the employee to self-quarantine themselves and closely monitor their health."

The notice further added, "We have vacated two buildings where this employee worked, and these will remain closed for deep cleaning and sanitization. As a precautionary measure, we are also sanitizing the entire campus and have sent detailed communication to the employees working from that campus. Infosys has taken and will continue to take necessary precautions to keep our employees and communities safe."

In an attempt to slow the spread of the virus across the country, PM Narendra Modi imposed a nationwide lockdown that came into effect on March 25 at 12.00 am that will be enforced for 21 days. 587 cases and 10 deaths have been reported in the country so far, of which 112 cases have been recorded in Maharashtra alone.
