Chennai District Collector Anbuchelvan has informed that 'Veda Nilayam', the famed Poes Garden residence of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa in Chennai, would be converted into a Memorial in about 'four months' time from now.

"As the former chief-minister didn't have any direct legal heirs, the decision to turn her residence into a Memorial is final," Anbuchelvan asserted while talking to newsmen. It may be recalled that the most popular chief-minister of the State (after MGR, though) was 'declared dead' by Apollo Hospital, Chennai under mysterious circumstances on the night of 05th December, 2016 after a prolonged 75-day long stay during when she reported recovered very well but didn't come out alive from Apollo.

People were allowed to enter 'Veda Nilayam', the residence of the former chief-minister and which remained a power-centre for many decades, after which Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami announced that it would be turned into a Memorial. Work for this purpose had already started with Revenue officials headed by the Collector inspecting the 'site' on 30th December.

"After acquiring the site, work on converting the residence into a Memorial would commence in right earnest,"he said and added that the income-tax raids at the former chief-minister's residence may not affect their work."We didn't open the rooms sealed by the income-tax department," he added further.
