Speculations around the release date of Kabali are only growing in intensity day by day. According to some reports, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu himself has hinted at a probable postponement of the film due to the non-completion of certain works. This is said to be because Rajinikanth hasn't been available for some days now, now that he is in the US allegedly for a health check-up.

Some sections are speculating that the gangster drama would be deferred by at least a week. That is, from July 15, it will be pushed further to the 22nd of that month. Some sources suggest that it could be a later date.

If, on the one hand, Rajni's fans are disappointed, the producers of small-time and moderate-ticket films, too, are anxious. The release of their films are hinged on that of Kabali's. In Telugu, Naga Chaitanya's Sahasam Swasaga Saagipo (and eventually Premam) and even Venkatesh's Babu Bangaram (official release date is July 29) might have to rethink their strategies. Added to this, some small-ticket films which are at the receiving end of uncertainty.

Thus, uncertainty over Kabali's release is going to hit Tollywood, besides of course Kollywood's small producers.
