K-Creations `Kadhalagi is a new generation movie in which every department is headed by a youth. Newcomers Ajay and Amrutha star in this KR Vishwa directorial flick. Among the new cast Prakash Raj will be the only popular face.

`Kadhalagi' is the story of a group of youngsters who struggles for friends and friends who struggle for lovers.

Maestro A R Rahman's sister A R Rehana has composed the music for the lyrics of Vairamuthu. Thaman takes care of the background score.

A R Rehana in this film tries a new variety Tango for the first in Tamil films. This Latin American music, particularly Argentine is a world heritage of humanity declared by UNESCO. This innovation in the album is praise worthy.

`Kadhalagi' has six songs out of which three were first tuned and then words were filled. For the other three songs words were first written by Vairamuthu and tunes were composed later. All singers used for this album have their own merit and individual style.

The audio of `Kadhalagi' was released by Union Minister M K Alagiri on April 14 at the Film chambers in Chennai.

After launching the audio, Union Minister M K Alagiri said, "Normally I listen more to old film music. Because I love the way of presentation in those songs. But after seeing these songs with the Vairamuthu - Rehana combination, I feel I should also listen to music of new films.

1. Manadhil Poochedi - Listen here

Singers: Deepa Mariam, Belli Raj

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

This sounds as a melodious country romantic ballad. Starts with strings and then flute before the vocal takes over. More use of wind instruments and the male humming in interludes gives this song an authentic rural feel. Vairamuthu's words are poetic with a lot of similes. The singers have done a decent job particularly Deepa Mariam.

2. Vaazhvomay Vaazhvomay - Listen here

Singers: Suchitra, Kavi Suresh, Bignic, Bhargavi

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

Immediately after a country kind the album shits gear to a Tango. A new attempt which experimental but is very different. Simple harmonious renditions by the singers pack a punch. Words talk about the confidence young people need to have.

3. Udal Mozhi Ulagin - Listen here

Singer: Soosan

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

This is the first of the three songs for which the lyrics were written first. The freedom speaks. Piano begins then violin. A raunchy number crooned to the hilt by Soosan. But still you can't help "Konjam Nilavu" from `Thiruda Thiruda' crossing your mind. Piano bits in the middle peps up the spirit. Vocal dominates perfectly with the music complementing. A sexy number worth repeated listening. The final closing bit rocks. Pick of the pack

4. Kaadhale Kaadhale - Listen here

Singer: Shankar Mahadevan

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

Another first lyric them tune song. Sounds like a male adaptation of the previous song. Trumpets give a trance effect. Shankar Mahadeven tries his best to hold the relatively slow number for his kind and succeeds.

5. Kannadasan Kavithaigalai - Listen here

Singer: Haricharan

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

The third song which was tuned to words. A slow pathos in which the male voice melts to call back the gone away love. The singer differentiates the tempo at various points. No major background orchestration which is very appropriate. Interlude chorus adds to the mood.

6. Roja Thottathil - Listen here

Singers: Karthik, Benny Dayal, Prashanthini, AR. Rehana

Lyricist: Vairamuthu

A peppy rap mixed with a bhangra feel. This is also a group freedom song for the youth. The fast beats are very bass. Rhythmic beats are lead by Karthik full blown voice.

On the whole the album is youthful and peppy. The singers do justice to the fresh music of A R Rehana and the wonderful lyrics of Vairamuthu. Only thing is you must listen to the songs in this album with an open mind. Particularly forget that she is the sister of A R Rahman.
