Actor Kamal Haasan has distanced himself from the remarks about Governance in Tamil Nadu and questions about the usage of tax money as he was quoted by a National News Website.

Kamal was quoted saying that the Governance in Tamil Nadu has failed and asking why the Tax payers money are not being used for measures to avoid such disasters. The contents of that website article were carried later in many Tamil and English News papers which evoked sharp rebuttal by Tamil Nadu's Finance Minister O.Pannerselvam who criticized the legendary actor of serving the interests of other political parties who are against the Government.

In a detailed statement released to the Press and Media today, Kamal Haasan has said that he never spoke anything about the Government of Tamil Nadu and Tax payers money. He has stated that the interview was given in the form of a letter in English, to a media person in North India. He has said that he spoke only about the disaster that has affected Tamil Nadu and lamented about the miseries suffered by the people in his letter to that media house.

Kamal also clarified that he is not using Facebook and did not know what its users are discussing about the entire episode involving his name. He has also mentioned in his statement that this is not a reply or rebuttale to Minister Panneerselvam. The statement was released only to avoid deviating the members of his welfare associations who are taking part in in rain relief activities with the guidance he has been giving through telephonic conversations.
