'Kanchivaram' to compete at IFFI

Director Priyadharshan's Tamil film 'Kanchivaram' has been selected for the competition round at the International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa.

The movie features Prakash Raj, Shreya Reddy in lead roles. Music is by M G Sreekumar and camerawork by Thiru. Art direction is by Sabu Cyril.

The movie is about the troubles of silk weavers in Kanchipuram during the pre-independece days, when communism started to make inroads in India.

'This is the first time that a Tamil film has made it to the competition at IFFI', a happy Prakash Raj said.

'The commercial release of the film has been planned for in December' said the actor and added, 'the movie has been catching the attention of just about everyone in various international film festivals where it has been screened'.

The film chronicles the struggles that every man had to go through in society, said Prakash Raj and concluded with a grin as he said 'this is one of the best films I have been part of'.

Meanwhile Ajith starrer 'Billa', 'Kallori' and 'Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai' have made it to the Indian Panorama in the non-commercial category.
