Kangana Ranaut welcomes Satish Kaushik in the cast of Emergency

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming political drama 'Emergency' recently had a new addition to its already stellar cast. On Wednesday, it was announced that seasoned actor Satish Kaushik is going to appear as Jagjivan Ram, who was the defence minister during 1971 war. Kangana took to Instagram to share a picture of Satish Kaushik in which the actor is looking identical to the real life version of his character.

Talking about this casting, Kangana said in a statement, "Jagjivan Ram was a very popular leader. One of the most loved and revered leaders of his times. When Mrs Gandhi refused his request of relaxing Emergency, he quit the Congress and there were grave consequences for her. That was his relevance."

She further added, "I needed somebody for this role who has his strength, his wit and his sarcasm. Satishji was an obvious choice for this role. I am looking forward to my scenes with him as an actor. They are some of the most engaging, entertaining and strong scenes in the film."

Directed by Kangana Ranaut, the film will feature herself as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Anupam Kher as J P Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw among others.
