Arvind Kejriwal, president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who is also the chief-minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has regretted branding Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari as corrupt.

AAP released a few days back a list of ‘most corrupt politicians’ in India; the list also featured Gadkari, who had also been the president of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre in the past, thus triggering a huge controversy as Gadkari was an incumbent Union Minister as well.

Gadkari moved the Delhi High Court by filing a defamation suit against Kejriwal stating that the latter had damaged his name, fame and life by naming him as corrupt.  It is in this backdrop that Kejriwal has done a ‘volte-face’ by stating that he had ‘erred’ in including Gadkari’s name in the list of corrupt politicians.

After Kejriwal’s advocate filed a written apology from him with the Court, Gadkari’s counsel withdrew the defamation suit.  It may be recalled that Kejriwal withdrew his allegations against SAD leader Bikram Singh (whom he termed as a ‘drug addict’) a few days after he made the allegations.
