On July 19 2017, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan requested all of his fans, followers and people who have not sold their votes for money to directly report about the corruption to the Ruling AIADMK party MLAs and Ministers. He also provided the Tamil Nadu Government's official website which carries the contact details of all the MLAs and Ministers.

Within three days after this, all the contact details disappeared from the website. Taking note of this, DMK MLA Palanivel Thyagarajan filed a petition in the Madras High Court against the removal of contact details of people's representatives. He called it a move against democracy and transparency.

The petition came up for hearing today in the bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M.Sundar. The honourable judges asked the government whether the contact details of ministers and MLAs have disappeared due to a technical error or if there were any other reason behind the same.

The HC bench has given two weeks time for the TN Government to respond to this query and posted the next hearing on August 21, 2017.

Kamal Haasan has been criticising the Governmental corruption in Tamil Nadu over the past few months. He even noted that corruption is all pervasive in the state. Many ministers of the ruling party reacted harshly to the criticism of the veteran actor. Some ministers sought proof for Kamal's allegations on corruption and hence the Ulaganayagan urged the fans and people to report how they suffered due to corruption directly to the concerned MLAs and Ministers.
