Actor-director Cheran is giving final touches to Mayakkannadi. The movie is set for a release on Tamil New Year's day.

Meanwhile, Cheran has commenced his next with right earnest. The movie is titled Pirivom Sandippom and is directed by Karu Palaniappan.

The movie will have Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu fame Kamalini Mukherjee playing the heroine.

Happy to work with Cheran, Karu Palaniappan says, "Pirivom Sandippom is a different movie sure to move the masses."

The movie would be launched formally on 28 March. Produced by Subaskaran, the photo session for Pirivom Sandippom was carried out at Royapuram Railway Station on Friday.

Vidyasagar is scoring the music while the lyrics are penned by Kabilan, Yugabharathi and Pa Vijay.
