There is a Malayalam film which was made on a budget of Rs 2 Cr and has collected Rs 50 Cr at the box-office, taking trade pundits and Mollywood by surprise. It's 'Thanneer Mathan Dinangal', which literally means 'Watermelon Days'. Released a few weeks back, it is a nostalgic drama in the rom-com mould.

Telling the story of a few college students who share their joys, little aspirations, and dreams, the proceedings are filled with fun, frolic and emotions. Director Girish AD's treatment and the heart-touching moments have mesmerized the audience. Its actors, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Mathew Thomas, and Anaswara Rajan, have come in for much acclaim.

Expectedly, there has been intense competition to secure the film's remake rights in Telugu. With the right casting and execution, the remake can become a big hit in Telugu as well. It has to be seen who has bagged the remake rights.
