Hitting out at Kathi Mahesh recently for making derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Naga Babu got emotional and labelled the film critic as a 'Neechudu'.

The word 'Neechudu' is considered not only reprehensible but also has casteist connotations. Kathi Mahesh is of the view that the Mega brother has called him a 'Neechudu' only because he is a Dalit.

As such, Naga Babu could be liable for action under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

This is not the first time that the word 'Neechudu' has been seen as a casteist slur in recent memory. When Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar called Narendra Modi a 'Neech aadmi' before the Gujarat Assembly elections, it became a big factor ahead of elections.
