The trend seems to have set it. Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire' based on slum dwellers received stupendous success globally and looks like the film has inspired other filmmakers to follow.

‘Tera Kya Hoga Johnny’ is directed by Sudhir Mishra and stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Soha Ali Khan, Shahana Goswami and Karan Nath. The film is co-produced by Tutu Sharma. The film said to revolve around the slum life. Interestingly sometime back the film was screened at South Asian Film Festival that was held in New York (Oct 28-Nov 3). And it is heard that the American critics responded to the film by commenting that it was similar to that of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’! This has encouraged the director to bring an English version of the film…

Stated the Mishra, “After Slumdog Millionaire, the West is looking with much curiosity at the slum culture of Mumbai. I had no plans of doing an English version of 'Tera Kya Hoga Johnny'. But everyone who saw it in New York suggested I do it. Every frame in my film has been shot in the lanes and gullies of South Mumbai in Colaba.”

The film is also said to be featuring a real street-child Sikandar. ‘Tera Kya Hoga Johnny’ is expected to be out by January 2010.
