Popular lyricist Pa Vijay, who has carved a niche for himself with his pen, is busy shooting for his maiden venture as hero in 'Thai Kaviyam'. The movie is adapted from the Tamil version of the Russian novel 'The Mother' authored by Maxim Garky and written by Chief Minster M Karunanidhi.

About his debut film, he says it is the story of an ordinary boy and also deals with social issues. The transition from a poet to an actor has been smooth. 'I said no to heroism based themes. When this revolutionary story came up, I said yes because I was confident of doing justice to the role,' says Vijay, who has added another 92 songs this year to his list of film songs that has already crossed thousand.

Even though the trend seems to be on rap and fast beats, it is only melodious songs that rule. The latest super hit songs of ‘Varanam Aayiram’ stands evident for this’, says Pa. Vijay.

The poet who won the national award for his inspiring number 'Ovoru Pookalume' in the film Autograph says, ' after Kavignar Kannadasan's 'Unnai Arinthaal' song, 'Ovoru…' is the second song to be included as part of the Tamil syllabus in Madurai Kamaraj University', he says.
