Prabhas dragged into journalistic fiction

It's being reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to cast Prabhas in 'Padmaavat' after watching 'Baahubali: The Beginning' in 2015. In which role? Maharawal Ratan Singh, who was eventually played by Shahid Kapoor. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh had already been cast as Rani Padmavati and Aladdin Khilji respectively.

For all we know, Bhansali may never have thought of casting Prabhas as Ratan Singh for the reason that the image of the Rebel Star created by Rajamouli's magnum opus would have effectively ruined 'Padmaavat'.

Ratan Singh has no heroic role in the semi-fiction film. It's Rani Padmini who is the real hero of the story. The Hindi audiences wouldn't have liked to watch Prabhas as a second fiddle who takes all wrong decisions and falls into the trap laid by Alauddin Khilji more than once, much against the wise Padmini's advice.

The news that Bhansali once considered the 'Saaho' actor for the role of Ratan Singh must well be a work of journalistic fiction.
