Priyamani has been chosen the best actress in the 9th Osian's-Cinefan film festival at New Delhi. She has been chosen for her strong performance in Ameer's Paruthi Veeran.

Paruthi Veeran directed by Ameer, starring debutant Karthi and Priyamani in the lead roles, explores the relationship between two strong characters - a small-time criminal and a girl from the respected Thevar community.

The movie was screened at the fifth day of the festival attracting enough audience. It received raving reviews and everyone appreciated Ameer and the star cast for their good performance.

The movie with a tragic end had musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Karthi and Priyamani shot to fame with the movie. The film is running successfully for over 150 days.
