Gangai Amaran, the man with many talents, has made a comeback as a music composer with `Pugaipadam'. The movie stars Amzath, Priya Anand and Yamini in lead roles. Produced by N C Manikandan the movie is based on a true story of the college days of eight friends.

The album has youthful tracks by Gangai Amaran with the likes of Krish, Venkat Prabhu and Vijay Yesudas singing. Watch out for a duet between S P Balasubramaniam and Chitra. The album has lovely songs.

1. Pennilamae Onnumilae - Listen here

Siner: Balaji, Krish

Penned by Gangai Amaran himself, the song is a joyful one. It oozes with energy from the word go. Balaji and Krish go at same pace giving the song the right pep. The lyrics are bubbly and youthful.

2. Oru Kudayil Payanam - Listen here

Singer: Venkat Prabhu, Prashanthini

A soothing melody by Gangai Amaran, sung by his son Venkat Prabhu in the company of Prashanthini. Soft music not disturbing the charm of Na Muthukumar's lyrics is the hallmark of the song. Venkat Prabhu, who mesmerised as filmmaker with Chennai 28 and Saroja, does the same as singer here.

3. Vaan Nilavudhaan - Listen here

Singer: Vijay Yesudas

More an emotional number, it has lovely lyrics by Na Muthukumar. Kind of stirring the heart of listeners, Gangai Amaran takes us back to heydays of our life with the song. Thrust on lyrics is the song's USP.

4. Idhu Kanavo Idhu Nijamo - Listen here

Singer: SP Balasubramaniam, Chitra

Call it the dynamic duo of playback singing - S P Balasubramaniam and Chitra. The two team up to recreate the magic of Illayaraja days with this duet. Rajesh Lingam's lyrics has lilting music by Gangai Amaran. Dynamic voice of SPB and the soft vocals by Chitra work wonders.

5. Odaikanum Odaikunam - Listen here

Singer: Haricharan, Vijay Yesudas

Penned by Rajesh Lingam, the song rendered by Haricharan and Vijay is soft and smooth like a chocolate. It sticks to our heart instantly for the wonderful percussion. Gangai Amaran has managed to recreate his old charm.

All in all, the album has proved the fact that a lion is always a lion. Gangai Amaran, credited with revolutionizing Tamil film music with Illayaraja, has succeeded in giving soulful music once again.
