It’s the season of classic era... Films like ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Lootera’ are all taking inspiration from the bygone times. Here’s the latest one…

Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma have been roped in for Anurag Kashyap’s next venture which is said to be a period film. Ranbir and Anushka are paired up for the first time in this thriller film which is titled ‘Bombay Velvet’.

According to sources, the film is adaptation of a research book Mumbai Fables, by Gyan Prakash a noted historian and Professor of History at Princeton University, who did the semi-fictional study of Bombay in the sixties.

Talking about Ranbir’s role in the film, sources said that the actor plays a hero of the masses in the 1960s. Incidentally, it is the fist time he is portraying a biographical character.

Apparently when Kashyap asked Ranbir to read the book, the latter said to have been quite impressed with it and gave his nod for the project right away. Ranbir has requested some time till October to prepare for his screen character and after which the film will go on floors.
