Throughout his long and illustrious career, actor Sanjay Dutt has given countless memorable characters but his role as a happy go lucky gangster in 'Munna Bhai' franchise remains to be most iconic of them all. There have been buzz about third installment of the franchise since last few years and Sanjay is often questioned by media regarding the same.

In a recent media interaction, Sanjay gave an update on 'Munna Bhai 3'. He told Bollywood Life, "Of course, we're making every effort for Munna Bhai 3. Rajkumar (Rajkumar Hirani the Director) also wants to do it, so I hope we're able to make it happen soon. We've done other movies, too, we've done PK, and may do more such films in future, but when talking about the fans, I'm sure that they're most interested in Munna Bhai, so I'll finally say this that the fans should please ask Raju Hirani also, so that we finally get it (laughs a bit).”

Director Rajkumar Hirani has also expressed interest in returning for a third 'Munna Bhai' film but it seems like he has a lot on his plate at the moment.
