During the Lok Sabha elections for Tamil Nadu held on April 18, actor Siva Karthikeyan had become a part of a controversy, as he had cast his vote though his name was not on the voters list. The actor had been to Good Shepherd school in Valasaravakkam for voting, and found that his wife's name was in the list and his name was missing.

However the actor explained that he had voted in the same booth in the previous two elections, and by noon, he was allowed to cast vote. Later, the Election commission official Satyaprada Sahu said that action will be taken against the official who allowed the actor to vote. During the pressmeet of Mr Local held yesterday, the actor was asked on this issue.

"I am an Indian citizen and it is a duty to cast vote.I have my voter ID and hence I cast my vote. The election commission advises everyone to vote, and it is not my mistake that my name was not in the voters list. I voted just like everyone else. I had voted twice earlier in the same location, and even before before a month when I checked my name was on the list. So I don't need to give an explanation on this" said Siva Karthikeyan.
