If all goes well, then this fashionable 'Masakali' will step into the Tamil big screen for the first time….

Talks are that Sonam Kapoor is seriously being considered by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam for his next Tamil film, titled 'Pookadai'. The film, a full on romantic entertainer, is said to throw light on the fisher folk in Tamil Nadu.

'Pookadai' will have debutant Gautham, son of noted South actor Karthik. Initially, Shruti Haasan and veteran South actress Radha’s daughter Thulasi were alleged to be considered for the female lead. But now, some sources believe that Mani Ratnam is keen on casting Sonam as his lead lady. Rumours even have it that Sonam did a photoshoot with cinematographer Rajeev Menon for the project.

If one would have noticed, usually in his movies Mani Ratnam portrays his leading actresses as confident and strong; giving as much important as the film’s hero – be it ‘Roja’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Guru’ or ‘Raavan’… So if things fall into place, then one can look forward to seeing Sonam in a distinct role….

As of now, we can see the diva in a stylish avatar in Abbas-Mastan's forthcoming thriller 'Players' that is releasing on 6th Jan 2012....
