Speeding car rams into people offering namaz on Eid

As hundreds of men gathered at a mosque in East Delhi’s Khureji area to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid on Wednesday, a speeding car rammed into the crowd, injuring as many as 17 people.

Protests broke out around the area soon after the incident. “So far 17 men have been shifted to a nearby hospital and we have located the address of the accused driver. We will arrest him,” Shahdara’s Deputy Commissioner of Police said.

An investigation has been launched to probe the lapse in security in the area, especially on Eid, as it was already expected that people would be assembling on the roads to offer prayers.
