Director Atlee during the audio launch function of his production venture Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae` revealed that though Sri Divya missed out on his directorial film she signed up for this film under his production.

Vijay 61` directed by Atlee has Kajal Agarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menen pairing up with Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Initially Jyothika was signed as one of the heroines but she opted out at the last minute and it is learnt that Atlee approached Sri Divya who could not do the film due to prior commitments and the role went to Nithya Menen.
