In 1995, a young girl shot to fame with the classic 'Gulabi'. It's Maheswari, who had by then done the critically-acclaimed 'Pelli'. 'Gulabi', directed by Krishna Vamsi and co-starring JD Chakravarthy, even fetched her a Filmfare nomination. Back then, when reports emerged that Maheshwari is actually related to the legendary actress Sridevi, many were even more inclined to like her.

Very soon, the former actress is going to appear on Ali's ETV talk show 'Alitho Saradaga'. On the show, she spoke about her relationship with Sridevi, who passed away in early 2019. Sridevi is Maheswari's 'Chinnamma'. "But I used to call her 'akka'," she tells Ali.

Maheswari, like countless fans of Sridevi, is unable to digest the news of the actress' untimely death. "It still feels like she is abroad shooting for a film or show. We don't like to think that she is no more," she says.

Despite wide popularity, Maheshwari didn't wish to last long in the film industry. She gave up just six years after her career took off. 'Nee Kosam', 'Maa Annayya' and 'Tirumala Tirupathi Venkatesa' are among her last films in Telugu. She was a popular name in Tamil as well.
