Manirathnam has hit the bull's eye with his Guru. The Tamil version of the movie is doing well and the Hindi version has been witnessing a phenomenal collection, doing well in overseas too.

Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in prominent roles, the movie has musical score by Rahman and cinematography by Rajeev Menon. The film is produced and directed by Manirathnam.

The movie is loosely based on the life of business tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani.

As a major shot in arm, Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide tax-exemption for the movie in their State.

UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, a close associate of Amitabh Bachchan, has announced tax-exemption for Guru and that would mean more profits for Manirathnam.
