It has been held by commentators and observers that almost all States in India have been under-reporting both Covid-19 cases and deaths. Some States are doing it more than others. What about Telangana?

As per a report by The NewsMinute, Telangana is under-reporting Covid-19 cases in a big way. In a report, the website says that the government is officially underreporting the COVID-19 case count by more than 70% at least.

In its Saturday edition, Deccan Chronicle said that there were at least 30 deaths at Gacchibowli's Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences, the Covid-only hospital, on Friday. At Gandhi Hospital, the other Covid-only hospital, there were something like 50 deaths atleast. Together, the deaths are 80. However, official data puts the figure at 33.

It has to be mentioned again that Covid deaths were suspected to be under-reported during the first wave of coronavirus, too. Although the under-reporting may not be as huge as some rumour-mongers in the foreign media would have us believe, there is definitely a degree of counting less number of deaths due to various reasons.
