The one idea that surely killed NTR biopic

Now that it's clear as daylight that 'NTR: Mahanayakudu' too is an embarrassing disaster (worse than even 'NTR: Kathanayakudu'), let's go back to the days when the film was being shot. We now have the benefit of hindsight and so let's try to make sense of that one idea that ensured the death of the NTR biopic with sure-footedness.

Whoever came up with the idea that the biopic should be made as a two-part saga should be named and advertised in the Telugu film industry so that nobody will ever listen to his mind-blowing ideas anymore. What made him get carried away is a mystery but our guess is that the temptation of sounding Baahubalian was a major one.

For all we know, the temptation took birth even before Krish Jagarlamudi came on board. It's stunning that the film was decided to be made as a two-part series weeks after it began to be shot. So much for planning.

By dividing NT Rama Rao's life into two parts, they made the biopic all the more predictable and unexciting. Had it been made as a single film, there would have been scope for the screenplay and story sequencing to be imaginative. For example, NTR's life as an actor and as a politician could have been interspersed, giving scope for creative story-telling.

There is absolutely no grandeur in making sequels/two-part sagas unless they are justified. However, for some people, there is absolutely no glory in NOT making sequels/two-part sagas unless they are sure of being punished by the audience.
