As we reported yesterday, the makers of the yet-to-be-released film Friend Request have sat down on a dharna in front of the Film Chamber building in Hyderabad. They are on a hunger strike opposing the "injustice" meted out to small producers of late in the industry. The director Adithya Om said that while the distributors to whom Friend Request was sold promised that they will release the film in 30 theatres yesterday, they instead offered to release it in just 3. This triggered the dharna.

The hunger strike has now entered second day. "The injustice done for small films release by theatre network is being questioned by Friend Request movie team. Twenty more small producers are heading to join the agitation today. Please support the deeksha," said an appeal released on behalf of the small producers.

It has to be seen whether this hunger strike, which could garner support and sympathy from the small producers' fraternity, will prove to be a game-changer.
