Trailer Review: Mercury

The trailer of 'Mercury', a silent thriller directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is out.  Let it be said that it's an extension of its teaser.

The latest pre-release formality only confirms that the set-up is so fearsome that a group of youngsters fearing for their lives because of a psychopath (Prabhu Deva) can evoke the audience's sympathy.

The silent film is set in a hill station, but a good part of its key sequences seem to happen inside a garage-like backdrop.  Chemical poisoning (thus the title) forms the film's premise.  Punctuated halts and sudden shrills abound in the trailer.

"When life is at war, the most powerful scream is silence" -- the caption is interesting.

Santhosh Narayanan's background score will be the only sound heard in the film. Thiru's colour palette is something to look out for.  Anbariv has done the stunts.  Sananth Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Indhuja, Shashank Purushotam, Anish Padman and Remya Nambesan (in a guest role) are part of the cast.

A no-language film, it will release in all languages on April 13.
